Interventional cardiologist in Knox, La Porte earns additional board certification

Rishi Sukhija, MD, recently became board certified in interventional cardiology.

In order to receive the optional distinction, Sukhija had to pass an extensive exam as well as demonstrate clinical competence in the care of patients among other criteria, according to the American Board of Internal Medicine.

“Continually educating myself on the latest advancements in my field and working toward optional certifications are extremely important to me because I know, in the end, it will benefit the care I provide to my patients,” Sukhija said.

Sukhija is also board certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University College of Medical Sciences, India. He completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at New York Medical College, New York and a cardiology fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Arkansas.

He provides prevention, treatment and management of acute and chronic heart and vascular disease. He specializes in cardiac catheterization procedures, the treatment of structural heart disease and peripheral artery disease as well as endovascular surgery.
